For a number of years I wrote for the heating and home comfort industry, with a specific focus on heating oil products and services. I wrote dozens of websites for new and established oil heat providers up and down the east coast, as well as newsletters, brochures, contracts, sales kits, and radio commercials. Coming into this very technological industry I knew little about it, but I was a quick study and before long I could name all the OPEC countries alphabetically, describe the inner-workings of an oil burner, and tell you what a barrel of crude was going for that day. I pride myself on being able to learn the finer points of a client or industry in an expeditious manner, because time is money — and clear, effective copy is most definitely a hot commodity.
